Position Overview

The Controller will assist in the accounting operations of the company. This includes producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller must have solid communication, technology, analytical, and management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting manager, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the organization’s performance.
  • Oversees annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Assists in providing financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff.
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports with applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Seven years or more of related experience
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Tech-savvy with experience using integrated and modern software (ERP system experience strongly preferred)
  • Must take initiative and be able to work independently without supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the US without current or future sponsorship
  • Ability to occasionally travel (typically day trips within SC)

 Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s, CPA or CMA preferred
  • NetSuite experience is strongly preferred
  • Lockbox/Concur experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position operates primarily in an office setting within the branch. The position requires sitting at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time and involves extensive computer work with frequent interruptions. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires monitoring warehouse/inventory operations in a warehouse environment internally and externally consisting of hot and cold temperatures. With forklift traffic in the facility and products stacked and stored throughout, this position requires someone who is mobile and can identify potential and existing hazards of a warehouse environment.
