The Human Resources Generalist / Payroll & Benefits Administrator assists with the day-to-day operations of the HR functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Payroll and benefits administration for 60+ employees across three locations.
  • Explain HR-related benefit programs in a clear and positive manner to new hires and employees.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures and contribute recommendations for changes when necessary and appropriate.
  • Assist with the performance evaluation process and update employee rosters, and other HR reporting programs/tools.
  • Coordinate staff meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Verify I-9 documentation and maintain documentation in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Assist in the set-up of new employees, e.g., email and background checks.
  • Prepare new employee files and file documentation as needed.
  • Assist with the processing of new hires and terminations.
  • Assist management with various research projects and/or special projects.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to open requisitions and facilitate the recruiting process.
  • Report job-related incidents and act as liaison between employees and workers’ compensation adjuster, as needed.
  • Maintains and updates human resources documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred; two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; PHR or other HR certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent organization, time-management, and task-management skills to maneuver in a very fast-paced and diverse environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with iSolved preferred.
  • Previous benefits and payroll experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel (mostly day trips) on a weekly basis to gain visibility to team members and develop rapport with staff and leaders (approx. 25%)

This position requires work in an office setting as well as a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, including freezers and outdoor weather conditions. The position is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, twist, carry, and lift objects up to 40 pounds. With forklift traffic in the facility and products stacked and stored throughout, this position requires someone who is mobile and who can hear and watch for traffic and normal hazards of a warehouse environment.

Occasionally, this role is required to respond to organizational needs outside of normal working hours. The position is labor intensive and requires a fast pace.
